Crazy Times Candle & Bath Co. is owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Erin and Dave Powell. I really admire a couple who can not only live together but work together as well. In my opinion, that is a match made in Heaven.
During my never-ending quest to bring you the best handmade items I can find, I came across Erin and Dave’s Etsy shop. I spotted the trio of candles (in photo above) and loved them, which led to browsing through the rest of their shop. It took awhile, because they had 138 items listed, but I’m glad I took the time. I was impressed with the quality of their soaps and candles and decided to contact them about being featured on my blog.
Erin and Dave started making candles as a hobby in 2002. They were inspired to make their own candles because most store-bought candles “tunnel” when burning and are only scented on the outside. Erin and Dave were sure they could make candles with a great scent which would burn evenly and last longer. They definitely achieved their goal. In addition to pillar candles, Erin and Dave make Breakaway Melts; highly scented wax chunks meant to be melted on a tart/melt warmer. As the wax melts it releases scent to fill your room. The warmers are available in their shop.
In 2003, Erin and Dave decided to add bath and body products to their repertoire. They make scrubs, body butters, lotions, sprays, body oils and lip balms. I chose the photo of their Sandalwood Soap because it looked so pretty and because I really like the scent of sandalwood.
The third photo isn’t soap nor candle but I thought they were such a cute idea I had to share them. They are called Boo Boo Bunnies and this is their description:
“Hi, I'm the Boo-Boo Bunny and I'm here to say, When a child gets a boo-boo I'll help it go away. Just place an ice cube on my back and rest it on the bump, Then let them hold the bunny until there is no lump.”
At only $2.50 each, they are a clever and inexpensive way to ease the pain of your little ones “ouchie”. Grandparents ought to have these on hand, too.
Erin and Dave currently live in Appleton, Wisconsin (about 20 minutes south of Green Bay), having moved there from Two Rivers, Wisconsin. In addition to their shop on Etsy, Erin and Dave do a few craft shows and fairs each year and have their own website. They also have several wholesale accounts that stock their products in retail stores. Now that is the kind of hobby to have….one that pays for itself and then some!
