Camias Designs *** Los Angeles, California

My niece is getting married in a few months and weddings have been on my mind. I’m sure that was why these lovely bridal headpieces and circlets caught my attention.

Kelly Graham has been designing jewelry for over 14 years. Four years ago, she was inspired to create a line of alternative headpieces because she wanted to offer something less traditional than a tiara, which consists mainly of crystals and sticky pearls on a base metal bank. Kelly wanted to craft something unique…one-of-a-kind. Her desire was to elicit an emotional response; a design that would ‘speak’ to the bride-to-be. She told me her motivation for her designs was inspired by the Lord of the Rings films, which she loves, and the elements of nature, which holds great appeal for her..

Kelly believes she has a creative muse, for which she is thankful. She doesn’t always think about where her creativity is coming from…she simply allows her hands to forge a design into reality, which, when completed, is usually one of her best works.

Many brides-to-be have a vision in mind…a dream of their perfect headpiece. Kelly does her best to make that dream a reality. She first asks for a rough drawing of what the bride-to-be has in mind and then she takes time to process it. Once she accepts the custom order, Kelly emails photographs to the bride-to-be, as she works on the headpiece, to be sure she is staying true to the original vision. The resulting headpiece is literally a dream come true for the bride-to-be.

Kelly prefers a special order be placed several weeks before the wedding to maintain the quality workmanship that is so important to her, as well as to her customers.

These are Kelly’s thoughts about jewelry: “Jewelry, as an art form, has the power to create moods, provoke opinions and produce a myriad of personal and spiritual reactions.” In her studio this is the design philosophy she embraces to create and develop her unique pieces. Her ultimate goal is to convey whimsy through the use of her imagination, creating earthly, magical, inventive designs.

Kelly’s headpieces, circlets and jewelry collections can be seen, and purchased, in her Etsy shop. She also has a website, Camias Designs.

  1. Really beautiful circlets! They have a faery quality to be sure, but are distinctive in their own right.

I think most any bride would be proud to wear one ... they would be excellent for Renaissance Fairs as well!
