Soap…..we all need it; most of us (hopefully) use it every day. It is utilitarian, yes, but there is no reason for it not to be attractive and smell wonderful, too. Soap has come a long way in the past few years and thank goodness for that.
Trish and her husband are the owners of Pink Parchment Soaps. My first question of Trish was what inspired them to start making soap. Of all the things I have been inspired to make (and there have been many), never once did soap-making occur to me. My soap came in the form of a store purchased bar of Ivory.
Apparently, soap-making didn’t occur to Trish either. It was more like serendipity. Trish and her husband were vacationing in North Carolina and stopped to browse in a small soap shop. They thought the soaps were beautiful and decided to stock up for their difficult-to-buy-for Moms for birthday and Mother’s Day gifts.
After arriving home, Trish received a flyer from a local college offering soap making classes (I told you….serendipity). She took the class and voila, Pink Parchment Soaps was born.
Pink Parchment Soaps contain only ingredients that are safe and beneficial to skin, such as Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Palm and Coconut oils. They love making soap and experimenting with new formulas and ingredients. Click on the photos to enlarge them and try not to let your mouth water. The Raspberry Parfait soap looks good enough to eat; and, chocoholics rejoice; the “decadently scented chocolate soap” is just for you.
Trish belongs to “Etsy for Charity”, which is a group of Etsy members fueled by a passion to help their community. They choose a different charity each month and the members donate a percentage of sales on items they have designated (Trish donates 20%). One of the EFC items in Trish’s shop is the soap in the above photo with the horse and rider.
The last thing Trish wrote in her email to me was “people should know that once they start using handmade soap they will never go back to commercial soap again. Using handmade soap is as addictive as making it!”
Now that you’ve been warned, click over to Pink Parchment Soaps to see the rest of their items.
If you live in, or near, Sterling Heights, Michigan, drop by Trisha's booth at Country Side Mall and say hi.
I love handmade soap! There's a small company that sells at our local fairs, with the most wonderful soaps - using ingredients grown locally. Mmm!
ReplyDeleteI have recently discovered hand made soap on etsy, and this blog is so right. Once you start using hand made soaps, you can't go back to store bought. So far I have bought margarita salt soap, butterscotch, chocolate, pineapple, lime coconut, to name a few. I haven't seen Pink Parchment Soaps yet, but I'm going there right now and I know I'm going to love it.
ReplyDeleteI just bought the key lime pie soap. I want to try the peppermint.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried to many handmade soaps so I'm excited to try this.
Thanks.
I am also a handmade soap user. I have a great deal of respect for those who make it.
ReplyDeleteyum, those look delicious!
ReplyDeleteYour soaps are amazing and so beautiful!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe soaps looks so good I want to eat them!
