A couple of years ago I redecorated several rooms in my home. I was very pleased with the results except for the switch plates. Dull, dull, dull!
When I ran across Mosaico Décor on Etsy and saw Gina's polymer clay covered switch plates, my first thought was, “Wow, these are just what I need!” My second thought was, “I've got to feature these on my blog.”

Gina began working with polymer clay in 2002 but only sporadically. In 2006, she “became totally enamored with it”. She wanted to try different techniques and switch plates seemed the perfect “canvasses” for her experiments. Her husband loved the switch plates she created and began installing them all over their home.
Because she has no way of knowing what color schemes are in the homes of potential buyers, Gina chooses colors and textures that appeal to her. She is currently working on a line of switch plates in a neutral palette, using her favorite textures.
Gina accepts custom orders, most of which have been based on switch plates listed in her shop but requested in a different size or type. She has, however, done totally customized pieces.
Before discovering polymer clay, Gina hadn’t done any crafting since she was a teenager and certainly never envisioned making and selling her own handcrafted items. In Gina’s words, “its like it was supposed to happen and I’m grateful every day that I get to do this”.
In addition to her Etsy shop, Gina sells her work at Handmade Catalog and recently started a shop through Big Cartel. As if that weren't enough, she also writes two blogs; ‘Anything…’ and ‘Shop in Color’.

I'd never seen switch plate covers other than plain white ones before I found etsy. Such a cool idea.
