Roslyn's Closet *** Idaho

I found this Etsy shop while looking for preemie and newborn clothes for my Reborn dolls. The “Shabby Chic” hats are what caught my eye and tempted me to check out the rest of Roslyn’s Closet. (Click on photos for enlarged images)

Retiring from teaching elementary school after having her first-born, Jodi couldn’t imagine leaving her baby to return to work; yet, she wanted to keep busy (as if caring for a baby didn’t keep her busy enough!), and contribute financially, while staying at home with her infant. As a new mom, she thought it would be fun creating a line of baby/toddler clothing using her own designs. Jodi said “One night, I sat down and just started drawing and brainstorming and jotting down ideas, and before I knew it, Roslyn’s Closet was up and running.”

Jodi has two small children, a girl and a boy, and her inspiration for new designs often comes from them. She pays attention to what interests them and what they choose to play with, then attempts to create designs that would appeal to their interests. She wants her designs to evoke innocence and sweetness while still being fun, fresh and modern.

Having an artist for a dad inspired Jodi from a very young age. She didn’t pursue the arts educationally but she always drew and painted in her free time. She loves creating things and learning as she goes.

Jodi keeps some inventory on hand; however, she offers so many different designs for the onsies and toddler tees that most of the items are completed after they are purchased. Most of her clothing is available in sizes Newborn to 6-T.

Not to forget moms-to-be during the hot summer months, Jodi is offering (for a limited time) a line of cool and clever tank tops such as the one in the photo above.

In addition to Etsy, Jodi’s clothing and flower hats are sold in boutiques across the nation, (both free-standing and online stores) and, this year, she went international when a Japanese company bought hundreds of her flower hats.

Jodi also has a website, which she recently updated with an entire new look, and is currently adding lots of new products.

Thankful that people enjoy her clothing and designs, thus enabling her to stay home with her children, Jodi says having her own home-based business is a blessing and makes her feel “like the luckiest mom in the world!”

Be sure to check out Jodi’s Etsy shop and website. Whether you are a mom, dad, grandparent, aunt, uncle or friend, you are sure to find something perfect for the little ones in your life.
